Industry's First Surge-protected Serial Device Severs

06-Oct-2010

Moxa announced the release of the new NPort IA5000A series of 1/2/4-port industrial-grade serial device servers. The NPort IA5000A device servers are IEC61000-4-5 compliant and provide a robust, safe, and reliable serial-to-Ethernet solution for environments subject to voltage spikes, electrical noise, and extreme weather. Engineers can use NPort IA5000A device servers for a wide variety of rugged automation applications, and will enjoy the convenience of using the world’s first industrial device server with serial/Ethernet/power surge protection.

The NPort IA5000A series’ 3-step web-based configuration tool makes system deployment and device configuration significantly easier and more efficient. “The configuration tool is straightforward and user-friendly. A web-configuration tool guides engineers through 3 simple steps to activate the serial-to-Ethernet application. It takes an inexperienced user an average of just 30 seconds to configure the NPortand enable the application,” said Jun Chuang, Moxa product manager. “The NPort IA5000A series is designed to help engineers increase device reliability and throughput while reducing setup cost and interface complexity.”

With its relay output warning and email alerts, engineers will be able to react promptly to emergency situations when the Ethernet link or power input has failed, and know which serial signal has changed. The NPort IA5000A also offers a cascading Ethernet port, which makes wiring both easier and more cost-effective. In addition, the NPort’s metal housing and wide -40 to 75°C operating temperature will greatly increase your system’s long-term reliability and flexibility.

The NPort IA5000A series expands the already wide selection of NPort device servers, and as an industry standard in terms of reliability and ease-of-use, customer’s will find the device servers right for almost any industrial application. The NPort IA5000A series is now available for ordering. To learn more about the NPort IA5000A, visit the Advancing Device Servers section on Moxa’s corporate website.
