Advantech Launches New Series of Gigabit Ethernet to Fiber Optic Converters |
|
Advantech's eAutomation Group is releasing a new series of Gigabit Ethernet to Fiber Optic media converters, the EKI-2741 series. By transparently converting the Ethernet signals to optic signals, EKI-2741 series brings the advantages of Fiber Optic, such as wide bandwidth, EMI immunity, and long-distance transmission capability to Industrial networks. The EKI-2741 series an ideal solution for any "fiber optic to building" applications in any environment. The EKI-2741 also features the LFP (Link Fault Pass-through) function. In common situations, when one side of the link fails, the other side continues transmitting packets, and waiting for a response that never arrives from the disconnected side. By using the internal jumper to enable the LFP function, the EKI-2741 will force the link to shut down as soon as noticed that the other link has failed, giving the application software an alert to react to the situation. EKI-2741 supports MDI/MDIX auto detection, crossover wires is not needed anymore. Further, the EKI-2741 works normally from -10 ~ 60? C and accepts a wide voltage range from +12 ~ 48 VDC. It also provides 3,000 VDC surge (EFT) protection on power line and 4,000 VDC ESD on Ethernet ports. All of the above make EKI-2741 series so suitable for harsh industrial environments. The EKI-2741 series contains 3 models; EKI-2741SX, EKI-2741LX, and EKI-2741F. The former two are equipped with 1000Base-SX and 1000Base-LX SC type fiber optic connecters respectively. The later is equipped with an SFP port which provides flexible solutions on fiber optic types and transmission distances.
