Series CNG Locking Cylinder can increase safety in your customers’ applications when used for intermediate stops, drop prevention and emergency stops. The cylinder uses a reliable and compact lock unit that is not affected by poor air quality and is available in bore sizes 20mm to 40mm.

Advantages of the CNG locking cylinder:
High speed dynamic lock: The CNG cylinder can be used to stop moving loads from speeds of up to 1000mm/sec (39 in/sec) provided that the application is within the allowable kinetic energy range.

Many competitors require that their locking mechanism only be used in static locking applications (load must be stopped before engaging lock). Simple construction: The CNG design uses a tapered ring and steel ball combination to actuate the brake and realize increased braking power.

High locking power: High locking power and stable locking and release operation are enabled by two rows of precision steel balls. In addition, the taper-ring assembly “floats”, providing better alignment with the piston rod and stable locking force. High reliability and stable holding force.

Improved brake shoe material and increased length (twice that of prior designs) results in stable holding force and high reliability. Standard manual override lock release. If air is lost, the lock release can be operated using a wrench. When the override is released, the lock is engaged again as a failsafe. Construction not effected by air quality.

Locking mechanism is isolated from lock release air, so the lock function is not affected by excessive dirt or drainage in compressed air. Possible to lock in both directions. The same holding force is achieved on both extension and retraction.
