Omron’s new ZFX machine vision sensor simplifies every aspect of automated inspection by condensing image-processing know-how into recipes that allow the user to select from auto-listed options, resulting in shorter commissioning time and lower costs. Hardware has been condensed to just two pieces- an intelligent camera and a controller with LCD touch screen. The ZFX programming environment uses a live color image for maximum accuracy in setup and monitoring. A three-step setting procedure reduces fumbling with lighting setup and eliminates the tricky parameter details involved in measurement setup.

Set-up complete in minutes
The built-in touch screen offers interactive menus which guide the user through the entire set-up of individual tasks in three simple steps: select the inspection tools, choose the inspection regions and set the proposed inspection parameters with a push of the AUTO button. ZFX provides immediate live feedback, images and clear system messages. The entire set-up procedure is completed in a matter of minutes. No PC is required for set-up, maintenance and operation.

Inspections ready for the job
Multiple inspections per image can be configured. You can choose from up to 20 inspections or inspection support tools. Image pre-processing, position compensation, calibration and data logging tools complete the range of powerful easy to use features. The ZFX vision sensor is available as a one or two camera system. Depending on the connected camera, the tools will process a monochrome image or a colour image providing colour filters and colour pickup options innovative in this class.

Connections for any environment
Multiple interface options offer smooth integration into the control environment, such as Ethernet, serial, USB and digital I/O. Communication of result data, calculations and images, upload and download of configuration, manipulation of settings, and much more is possible using these interfaces. The 20 digital I/O ports guarantee fast communication of real time control for trigger, binary results, handshake or status.

Cameras fit for the purpose
The ZFX supports a range of smart cameras with integrated lighting and adjustable focus. They are available with a field of view from 10 mm to 150 mm. For more advanced applications there are additional c-mount cameras, offering any lens/light combination. All cameras are available as colour or monochrome versions. This guarantees maximum flexibility and secures the future investment in your inspection.
