Five Great Reasons to Consider Our New ace GigE Series

26-Apr-2010

After the successful launch of the ace seriesand the start of production at the end of March, ace acA640-100gm/gc and acA1300-30gm/gc models are being shipped every day, and of course, we are very happy about the huge interest in this camera series.

Basler ace cameras target the replacement of traditional analog cameras, IEEE1394 cameras and USB 2.0 cameras. Here are five great ace advantages that might make you start thinking about a camera replacement...

1.) Lowest Cost GigE Vision Camera
With a starting price of 299€, the ace series is the lowest cost GigE Visioncamera in the industrial camera market. But it is not only the entry level model that is aggressively positioned - all series members enjoy extremely attractive price positioning. For example, the megapixel version of the ace, the acA1300-30gm, has a list price of 429€. The combination of attractively priced cameras with low priced GigE componentssuch as cables and cards is highly cost effective and helps to reduce the overall cost of a GigE solution compared to other interfaces.

2.) Smallest Power over Ethernet Camera
The ace fits perfectly in places where other types of cameras have been used in the past. The small footprint of just 29 x 29 mm is exactly the same size as the most popular analog, IEEE 1394, and USB 2.0 cameras. This combination of a small footprint and Power over Ethernet functionality makes the ace series unique and makes ace GigE cameras with PoE the smallest in their class.

3.) Low Power Consumption – Save 20%
Basler has designed the ace series to make minimum power consumption demands. The acA640-100gm, for example, has a typical power consumption of only 2.0 watts when used at full resolution with PoE. In comparison to even recently released IEEE 1394b cameras with the same dimensions and the same sensor, the ace typically consumes around 20% less power. The strict design requirements regarding low power consumption have also resulted in a more moderate camera temperature and in better image quality due to the lower heat-related dark noise.

4.) Unbeatable Software and Feature Set
Basler ace cameras have all of the featuresrelevant for a digital camera used in our key markets, such as auto-functionality for gain and exposure, a look-up table, and chunk data. They also support the latest features for ITS applications including “multi-shot”, which allows the user to quickly capture a series of images using only one trigger pulse. Along with the release of the ace cameras, Basler has extended the functionality of its unique, field-proven pylon software and driver package to support more development environments such as C, C#, Borland, etc. The pylon driver SDK can be downloaded for free from our website.

5.) Basler's “Made in Germany” Quality
Although low in price, the ace is a quality product that makes a convincing argument with its extremely attractive price/performance ratio. Basler ace cameras deliver good image quality, high reliability, and the highest user-friendliness. Basler has achieved this goal through smart product design in combination with an integrated production and test strategy. All of this is done at Basler’s headquarters in Ahrensburg, Germany. The ace has benefited from the experience we have gained over the last 10 years in designing, building, and testing cameras, and from our proven and enhanced production processes and tools.
