Danfoss Solar Inverters expands further - new facilities to be opened at Danfoss headquarters in Nordborg

21-Sep-2010

Danfoss’ climate and energy solutions are in great demand. Danfoss Solar Inverters, in particular, is experiencing extremely strong sales, and as a result it is outgrowing its current supply chain facilities in Gråsten and Sønderborg, Denmark.

The business is therefore expanding its production and logistics capacity by moving to facilities at Danfoss headquarters in Nordborg, which can accommodate the strong growth that is expected to continue into 2011.

This expansion gives the solar inverter business an assembly capacity in 2011 of 3.5GW, which corresponds to the yearly energy consumption of 800,000 households. Furthermore, the new premises will have room to double the assembly size within a few months.

Plans for attractive, lean and world-class production in Nordborg will be established over the next few months. Production in the new facilities will start in the first quarter of 2011 and the move will be completed by the end of 2011. It involves 140 employees.

Danfoss Solar Inverters, which is part of the Danfoss Power Electronics division, expects to have 200 people working in Nordborg by 2012.

In moving to Nordborg the solar inverter business will stay close to the important European market and the Danfoss VLT® frequency converter supply chain in Gråsten will get more space.

Danfoss Power Electronics is expanding not only in Denmark, but also with its facilities in China and the US to meet the demand for frequency converters and solar inverters on the global market.

“Expanding our activities in Denmark, the US and China will enable us to achieve the growth and earning targets for Danfoss Power Electronics that have been set out in the new strategy for the Danfoss Group,” says Troels Petersen, President Danfoss Power Electronics.
