Yamatake to Sell the Tricon Safety Instrumented Systems from Invensys Process Systems Japan, Strengthening Its Safety Instrumentation Offering for Plants |
|
Yamatake Corporation will act as sales and support representative for the Tricon safety instrumented systems supplied by Invensys Process Systems Japan from November 1. This move will reinforce Yamatake’s solutions business in the field of safety instrumentation for plants. Serious challenges currently face the manufacturing industry, especially petroleum/petrochemical companies; these include the mass retirement of baby boomers, a falling birthrate and ageing population, and equipment obsolescence. More and more, companies are looking for solutions in safe operating environments that customers can use with complete confidence. Functional safety in process automation is now covered by international standards: IEC 61508 and IEC 61511. In view of these developments, Yamatake has decided to offer customers the choice of a DCS bundled with a safety instrumented system (SIS). This would include the comprehensive functions of the Tricon safety instrumented system combined with Yamatake’s own DCS (APS5000, Harmonas, Industrial-DEO). Yamatake will also strengthen its maintenance framework, providing robust support for plant safety improvements. The Tricon safety instrumented system has been adopted as a standard component by the world’s leading international companies and licensors in the petrochemical industry; it is currently used in more than 7,000 installations around the world. As the distributor for this product in the Japanese market, Yamatake will provide users with full technical support through its tie-up with the supplier Invensys, a company that has extensive experience in safety instrumented systems. Following the introduction of this product, Yamatake anticipates orders for 20 safety instrumented systems by FY2009, with sales exceeding 1 billion yen.
