Metso Automation and ABB Intensify Co-Operation In Oil and Gas Industry |
A combination of automation systems from ABB and flow control technology from Metso Automation is good news for the oil and gas industry. ABB in Norway and Metso Automation have come to a mutual agreement regarding joint activities and have signed a memorandum of understanding for future collaboration in the oil and gas industry. The integration of Metso Automation's flow control technology with ABB's automation systems will result in improved safety, reliability and process efficiency on oil and gas installations. “We have already worked with Metso Automation for several years, and ABB is pleased that the co-operation now is formalized and taken to the next level. Combining proven automation technology from ABB with Metso Automation’s expertise within valve technology will lead to better process control and greater cost efficiency for the oil and gas producers,” says Bjarte Pedersen, vice president, ABB’s Oil and Gas business unit in Norway. ABB has extensive knowledge and experience of automation technology products, enhanced oil production, asset management and information management systems, and system integration. Metso Automation has extensive knowledge and experience of process control valves, emergency valves, intelligent valve controllers and partial-stroke testing devices for emergency valves. Both companies recognize that their capabilities and expertise are complementary within the field of valve monitoring in the oil and gas industry and wish to exploit this knowledge further. Metso Automation is continuously enhancing the integration of its Neles Product Line with all automation systems. The Neles ValvGuard product provides a leading-edge, robust valve testing, monitoring, and maintenance tool that compliment the capabilities of ABB’s asset management solutions. Integration will provide ABB System 800xA users a proven, best-in-class solution for their valve applications. “We have previously co-operated with ABB on many customer projects and further integration of Neles products with ABB's automation system 800xA will benefit our customers," explains Markku Simula, vice president of Metso Automation’s Neles Product Line. Integration of Neles ND9000 intelligent valve controllers and ABBs 800xA system and asset management solutions are already in operation today at the Shell Ormen Lange gas plant on the western coast of Norway.
