Highlighting The Abilities of Robots with The Arc Welding Customer Day in Shanghai |
Visitors to the Arc Welding Customer Day in Shanghai on 5th March were given a first hand insight into ABB’s arc welding product range, presented by Mr. Martin Berg, ABB’s Global Arc Welding Manager. ABB played host to more than 20 customers from 15 different companies in China and Singapore, who received a wealth of information plus hands-on experience of using ABB’s latest arc welding technology. The event commenced with Mr. Wang GuoChao, Robotics Automation Manager for the Automotive Industry from ABB China, offering attendees an overview of welding process equipment, including ABB’s standardized arc welding system and packages, FlexArc and the IRB 1410 Arc Pack. With presentations available in both English and Chinese, attendees were able to explore ABB’s comprehensive software solutions for every step in production, from planning, programming, commissioning and operation, through to collection and presentation of the final production statistics. Other presentations on the day focused on ABB’s range of products and services for enhancing the production line, including the TrueMove and QuickMove motion control products. As well as ABB’s newest control technology, visitors could also learn about the IRB1600ID arc welding robot with integrated cables; arc welding application technology such as collision detection and integrated error handling, plus welding process equipment from ABB partners ESAB, Fronius and SKS. Visitors were also introduced to FlexArc, the complete robotic welding cell available in several flexible and versatile standard modular packages and the IRB1410 ArcPack, an easy to use robotic arc welding package. Accompanying them was ABB’s arc welding simulation software, Virtual Arc, a powerful software tool providing robot welding engineers with full ‘off-line’ control of the MIG/MAG process. Commenting on the customer day, Mr. Wu Yong, General Manager for Shanghai GoodWeld and an ABB customer, remarked, “This event was very informative and very professionally organized. I have never seen any other robot company doing such events before. Our company is really interested in finding out more about ABB robotics and looking into the opportunities of working together with ABB.” Commenting on the success of the day, Lars Dahlén, ABB Robotics Segment Manager for the Metal Fabrication Industry said: “It was great to see such a diverse range of attendees from companies in China and Singapore for our Arc Welding Customer Day. Visitors got to explore the latest technology for the sector and see how robots can help them improve productivity. We look forward to seeing the sector continue to expand and for ABB to continue exploring opportunities to develop and promote robotic technology for the Asian market.”
