Carlo Gavazzi Presents The New RSBS Compact 1 Phaze Softstarter

An innovative Single Phase Soft-starter that limits peak energy demand.

Carlo Gavazzi Automation, the international electronics Group with activities in the design, manufacturing and marketing of electronic equipment, presents the new 1 phase soft-starter: the RSBS Compact.

This new device is featured with innovative technology that reduces compressor starting currents and hence limits peak energy demand. Designed especially for the Heat pumps market, the new RSBS is one of the latest examples of the awareness that Carlo Gavazzi Automation has always had for environmental issues and the attention to the correct use of energy sources.

Developed by Carlo Gavazzi’s competence center in Malta, the new version of the single phase soft-starter RSBS Compact comes in a housing that easily fits in the restricted space available in typical equipment enclosures. Strongly competitive, it combines a higher level of reliability, a superior protection of compressor and easy mounting features, not forgetting the industry standard terminal block.

The new RSBS Compact One Phase soft-starter has been developed in regard of both environmental and consumers needs.

Gavazzi’s soft-starter uses compressor driven heat pumps that can convert heat from bedrock, soil or water. The exploitation of natural resources is a very efficient way to heat buildings and contributes to a significant reduction of energy costs.

According to a recent Energy Saving Trust survey, for every unit of electricity used to pump heat, 3-4 units of heat are produced.

Over the years Carlo Gavazzi has collaborated very closely with some of the largest heat pump OEMs and continues to contribute its Soft-starter expertise to bring benefits to the final customers within this market. The device is provided with customer-friendly software and hardware benefits. The combination of these benefits assures that there will be a high demand for the RSBS appliance and that most OEMs will choose the new device as their standard solution on 1-phase heat pumps.

“The development of RSBS Compact version has been focused on meeting customers’ wishes. Long term reliability, manufacturing quality and repeatability, cost effectiveness and sophistication of the starting control algorithm are all features that have been closely studied and evolved to this end. The Group is also able to offer customised solutions based on OEM preferences.

Thousands of Carlo Gavazzi Soft-starters are already operating in heat pump installations in numerous locations around the world, providing a certificate of experience and dependability” Commented Michael Mifsud - International Product Manager.
