KL, Malaysia –Today’s intelligent supply management has extended itself from warehouse automation into the cabs of vehicles. Advanced fleet management improves ROI and increases effectiveness throughout the supply chain. Advantech, the ePlatform service provider, will launch the TREK-743 Vehicle Mounted Computer for logistics and fleet management. The TREK-743 has an AMD LX800 500MHz processor and optional 802.11b/g and GSM/GPRS wireless capabilities.

One-piece design
The TREK-743 is an embedded system featuring one-piece design and a 7” integrated color TFT-LCD display with touch screen, with a choice of Windows® CE5.0 or Windows® XP. Mounting and cabling are clean and simple, and the compact design provides a friendly interface in vehicles with limited space, which allows drivers to utilize the advanced computer in their daily work.

Modulated design for wireless expansion capacity
The TREK-743 mobile data terminal provides reliable two-way data communications between the central dispatch office and its drivers via the GSM/GPRS network. In the warehouse, real-time data is transferred via 802.11b/g wireless communications.

Reliable in-vehicle power management
The TREK-743 on-board computer (OBC) can be powered on by the vehicle’s ignition system. Voltage always drops, however, when a starter motor cranks an engine. Two mechanisms ensure that the TREK-743 runs smoothly even through this voltage dip. The first is its wide operating range—from 9 to 36 VDC. The second are its ignition-on, advanced delay-on and delay-off functions.

The TREK-743 is easy to mount on forklifts for real-time receiving, put-away, picking, and shipping applications in warehouse environments. Its one-piece design is useful for fleet management, which encompasses tracking, location mapping, flexible routing, mechanical diagnostics, driver behaviour tracking, fuel consumption, delivery accuracy and visibility, mobile communications and more.

Advantech provides Windows® CE 5.0 SDK support for Embedded Visual C++ and Net Compact Framework development on the TREK-743. This open architecture makes it easy for system integrators to develop their applications using existing solutions.
