SICK Launches DL50Hi Mid-range Distance Measurement Sensor

DL50Hi variant adds greater precision and a high-speed serial output to the Dx50 family

 

 

SICK, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sensors, safety systems, machine vision, and automatic identification products for factory and logistics automation, today announced the launch of a line extension to its mid-range distance measurement sensors - the DL50Hi. The DL50Hi adds a RS422 serial output, one additional switching output (for a total of 2 two – perfect for collision avoidance), and 10 times higher measuring precision. 


Like other products in the SICK Dx50 product line, the DL50Hi features a proprietary High-Definition Distance Measurement (HDDM) platform that provides greater precision at longer sensing distances and an industry-leading operating temperature range and ambient light tolerance. This expanding sensor family provides high-performance automation capabilities that help decrease operating and manufacturing costs by reducing scrap and increasing throughput. Their compact, lightweight housing allows for easy installation in areas where space constraints make larger sensors difficult to install. In addition, a simple push of a button allows the sensors to be easily taught and programmed using the intuitive display and keypad.

 

Applications include:

•           Crane, cab, and transfer car collision avoidance – the long-range analog output and discrete “emergency” output provide precise crane to crane positioning for more efficient movements through the factory and smooth collision avoidance.

•           Freezer areas – SICK’s HDDM technology allows these sensors to operate in temperatures as low as -30° C without any additional heaters or protective housings – something most sensors cannot handle due to laser and electronics limitations.

•           Shuttle car, ASRS, transfer car positioning.
