Intralogistics: 8400 Inverter Drives offer real advantages

The frequency inverters in the 8400 Inverter Drives range from Lenze perform the varied tasks associated with intralogistics. Users benefit from clear, functional scaling with the designs BaseLine, StateLine and HighLine. This "rightsizing principle" makes it easy to find the right inverter for the drive axis – and all this at an optimum priceperformance ratio.

Whether operated as a voltage-controlled speed actuating drive or with sensorless vector control, the 8400 BaseLine is tailored for use in continuous processes such as simple conveyor systems. If, for example, palletisers and hoists are to be equipped, the 8400 StateLine is available. Among other things, this offers smooth, jerk-free operation of drive axes and wear-free control of an electromagnetic service brake.

A third option is 8400 HighLine, which – in addition to the functional range of StateLine – also offers integrated table positioning (indexing) and two-track 100-kHz feedback to be able to perform positioning procedures within a tolerance of just a few millimetres. Here, the PLC initiates the positioning procedures as master, although it is freed up from having to manage the index and convert the encoder signal to absolute values. The devices are therefore ideal as efficient drives for controlled positioning systems which have to move to many defined positions in intralogistics.

The overload capacity of up to 200 percent and the design temperature of 45°C without derating make the 8400 Inverter Drives genuinely robust controllers that can also handle high temperatures in the control cabinet without HVAC technology. This in turn reduces the costs associated with devices, installation and monitoring. The range is offered in both single-phase and three-phase versions up to 2.2 kW – with "Safe torque off" (safe standstill) also available as an option. For higher power requirements, StateLine and HighLine are initially available up to 11 kW (three-phase), while extensions up to 55 kW are currently in the pipeline.
