Gold for The Golden Team in The Lightweight Fours

The Gold medal is theirs. The target set more than two years ago was met and the four rowers in the Gold Four did it once again: they won the Gold medal in the Olympic Games. It was the third time that the Danfoss sponsored Danish team got the Gold medal in the Olympic Games.

After a flying start, Eskild Ebbesen, Mads Kruse-Andersen, Morten Jørgensen and Thomas Ebert floored the competitors. The Danish boat was in the lead throughout the race and they were unstoppable, with almost a boat’s length between them and the Polish boat which came second.

Coach Bent Fransson says that, just like the previous races, the tactics were to be in the lead right from the start.
”All four of them were fit and ready for the finals and we had agreed to have the same tactics: full steam ahead and keep up the speed. At the 1,000 metre mark, they were in complete control of the competitors. To the rowers, it was a fantastic experience to win,” says Bent Fransson.

This morning, the Gold Four moved in the Olympic city in Beijing where they will stay for a week. Until now they stayed close to the rowing stadium in the Shunyi district, located north-east of Beijing.

Chief Reputation Officer, Ole M. Daugbjerg, says that Danfoss chose to sponsor the Gold Four to help create a shared sense of spirit among employees as well as capitalise on the parallels between top sport and business.

“Employees at Danfoss have been closely following the rowers since their first heat at the Olympic Games. The Gold Four exhibit the same values as we have at Danfoss and have again shown they have the will to win,” he says.

Danfoss has been sponsoring the Danish lightweight fours since 2002.
