Yamatake Controls Singapore Acquires ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Certification | ||||||||
Yamatake Corporation’s affiliate in Singapore, Yamatake Controls Singapore Pte Ltd. (YSP) acquired certification for ISO 14001, the international standard for environmental management systems, and OHSAS* 18001, the standard for occupational health & safety management systems. Yamatake Group companies are not just contributing to reducing the environmental load of their customers but are also actively working to acquire certification for ISO 14001, the international standard for environmental management systems, in order to make further progress with their own environmental protection activities. This is not limited to Japan: Yamatake overseas affiliates are also implementing programs aimed at acquiring certification. Already Dalian Yamatake Control Instruments Co., Ltd. (Dec. 2001), Yamatake Korea Co., Ltd. (Jun. 2006), and Yamatake China Limited (Jul. 2007) have acquired certification. YSP has thus become the 4th overseas affiliate (and 2nd overseas sales affiliate) to receive ISO 14001certification. Additionally, YSP has reorganized its own occupational health and safety (OH&S) activities as a management system and received OHSAS 18001 certification for this. In this way the company is working to anticipate and reduce potential risk factors – more efficiently and more effectively – so as to take preventative measures and forestall work-related accidents. Through these efforts, YSP is helping its employees to maintain and improve their health, while also providing them with a comfortable workplace. The Yamatake Group, led by Yamatake Corporation and motivated by the Group philosophy of “human-centered automation,” will continue to employ management systems that contribute to environmental protection activities and actively promote OH&S activities. • OHSAS: Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series, a standard established by an international consortium for listing occupational safety risks and countermeasures and also clarifying responsibilities. The OHSAS 18001 specification, published in April 1999, was based on the OHSMS (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems) certification. Although it has not yet been adopted by the ISO, there is correspondence between OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 (table of correspondence), and compliance is recognized
