SATO Supported by MEDITECH and Continues to Invest in Healthcare Information Systems Labelling Solutions

SATO, a pioneer in the Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) industry and a leader in barcode printing, labelling, and EPC/RFID solutions announced support from leading healthcare information systems provider, MEDITECH. The benefits are precious to SATO’s customers in the healthcare industry, allowing them to integrate applications into healthcare information systems without any need for additional software or middleware.

Healthcare industry’s end-users rely on healthcare information systems, the technology platform that enables patient care coordination, and enhances healthcare service productivity, as well facilitates data management. The healthcare information system already represents a significant investment, and adding other enabling software may only result in an exceedingly complex IT system, not forgetting the increase in costs including support and maintenance. With MEDITECH’s support, SATO completes another initiative to meet the requirement of existing end-users and anticipate demand for integrated solutions.

MEDITECH provides fully integrated Health Care Information Systems (HCIS) to hospitals and other healthcare providers. End-users will be able, using the MEDITECH-supported GL408e thermal printer, to deploy several clinical and other related administrative applications into their MEDITECH environment.

“Among the obstacles to implementation of barcode technology are still perceived integration challenges with healthcare IT infrastructure. SATO will continue to invest in relationships with leading healthcare information systems providers to ensure that its printers integrate seamlessly into existing hospital systems, so that in turn the end-users are able to deliver on patient care and patient safety,” said Kaz Matsuyama, Managing Director of SATO International.
