Up to 45 percent lower energy costs Current field tests and measurements by a European car manufacturer have confirmed it: Rittal's new Cool Efficiency cooling units use up to 45% less energy than conventional solutions. Rittal is thus setting state-of-the art standards for environmentally friendly and cost-efficient climate-control solutions in the industry. The latest compressor and fan technologies are contributing to declining energy consumption and lower maintenance costs.
Rittal's new Cool Efficiency cooling units use up to 45% less energy than conventional solutions After Rittal presented its new Energy Saver cooling units to the market in early 2008, its climate control innovation has been tested under field conditions in the automobile industry. The first results of the comparative measurements at a European car makers, comparing a series unit from the Rittal TopTherm family and new Cool Efficiency series of cooling units have been available since October. The new "Cool Efficiency" cooling units consue just 97.1 W/h compared to a power consumption of 178.2 W/h with series units. The Cool Efficiency units need 45% less energy, according to initial measurements. The Rittal TopTherm Plus wall-mounted versions form the basis of the new Cool Efficiency cooling units in the 1,000 watts category. Significant energy savings can be achieved by using the latest refrigeration compressor and fan technologies, and through an optimised arrangement of the heat exchanger components and refrigerant filling capacities. For instance, EC (electronic commutation) technology is employed with the fan motors. The external rotor motors with electronic commutation have a dynamically balanced rotor with multi-polar magnets. The rotor position is recorded by three Hall-effect sensors. Motor supply and control is via an external electronic operating system. Precision bearings ensure a long service life and low noise generation. The compressors are also comparably up-to-date. These innovations employ nano-coated condensers and integrated electrical condensate evaporation features as standard. Constant-efficiency levels and minimal maintenance costs are therefore guaranteed.
