New Executive Board Member at SICK - Joachim Malich Takes Over Process Automation Segment

SICK AG one of the world’s leading producers of sensors and sensor solutions for industrial applications, has appointed Joachim Malich to join the Executive Board with responsibility for the Process Automation segment as of 1 January 2009.

After studying communications engineering at Wuppertal University, Joachim Malich (44) spent many years in management positions, most recently as General Manager for Service & Solutions at Siemens AG. Between 2003 and 2006 he was Vice-President for the Germany West region for Cegelec plant and automation technology in Essen. Since 2006, Joachim Malich has been responsible for the European business of Mitsubishi Electric Europe as Executive Vice-President for Factory Automation.

The Process Automation segment, for which Joachim Malich will take over responsibility on the Executive Board of SICK AG, is one of the most strongly growing areas of the company. This segment mainly focuses on solutions for gas analyses, throughflow measurement and dust measurement technology, particularly in the chemical and petrochemical, power and cement, and waste incineration sectors.

The Executive Board of SICK AG thus consists of Dr. Robert Bauer,
Spokesperson for the Board and responsible for Technology; Reinhard Bösl, responsible for the Logistics Automation segment; Joachim Malich,
responsible for the Process Automation segment; Markus Paschmann,
responsible for the Factory Automation segment; and Markus Vatter,
responsible for Finance, Human Resources & IT.
