Billed as the “Northern Region’s Leading Trade Exhibition”, this Expo got off to a stuttering start due to the Muslim holiday which was celebrated the preceding day. Even though many were on extended holiday breaks as a result of this, the attendance was mainly made up of genuine players in the industries covered by this exhibition. Held at the Penang International Sports Arena (PISA) between the 21st and the 23rd of March, 2008, the 9th in this series of events was officially opened by the new Chief Minister of Penang, Mr. Lim Guan Eng. The Organizer of this premier annual expo is Intrenasionale, with the Co-Organizers being the Penang State Government and InvestPenang. Altogether, 96 industrial exhibitors and 19 other service providers promoted their products to the visitors who patronized the exhibition. There were a few minor setbacks such as missing sockets and non-working strip lights, although these were resolved very quickly. On-line communications were a problem, however, and it is hoped that this improves by the time the next event is held. Rain marred the second day of the exhibition, and perhaps contributed to a decline in the number of visitors. Having said that, Sunday was fine, weather-wise, and the attendance greatly improved. Overall, the event can be counted as a success for Intrenasionale. Kudos to Mr. Andrew S. Chan, his dedicated team and the exhibitors who supported the Industrial Expo 2008 Penang. Many are sure to be looking forward to the next offering of Intrenasionale, Automation Expo 2008 Penang, which will be held at PISA between the 23rd and 25th July 2008.
