Machine Tool and Manufacturing Indonesia- Surabaya will move to a larger exhibition centre in 2009 following the closure of this year’s event which was held 4-7 June at the Surabaya Convention Hall.

“The 2008 show experienced substantial exhibitor growth over the show in 2007 and with investment in East Indonesia’s economy on the increase a decision has been made to move to the much larger Gramedia Exhibition Centre in 2009” said Maysia Stephanie, Project Manager of PT Pamerindo Buana Abadi.

Machine Tool and Manufacturing Surabaya 08 attracted 239 exhibiting companies and 6179 trade visitors from East Indonesia. Exhibits on display ranged from machine tools and metalworking technologies to automation and control solutions, cutting and welding gear, test and measurement equipment and tooling. This year a greater quantity of machines and equipment for the plastics and rubber and packaging industry were also on display. “For next year’s event a dedicated area will be reserved for these types of machines as we are able to take advantage of the much larger floor space at the new venue” said Maysia.

The exhibition was officially opened by IR.C. Triharso, on behalf of the Minister of Industry and was seen as a huge boost to Indonesia’s burgeoning manufacturing sector.
