MTA2009 Continues To Play Pivotal Role MTA2009, the leading exhibition and business forum for the precision engineering and metalworking industries in the region, will be held from 25 – 28 March 2009, at the Singapore Expo. This biennial event is expected to be attended by trade professionals and business visitors from Singapore, Southeast Asia, India, China and beyond. Asia’s dominance in the global manufacturing arena is predominantly in the mass production of uncomplicated components and standardised product. Demand for such output can be highly volatile and trade regulations, political and economic situations can all drastically affect the health of the manufacturing sector. Concerted efforts are being made by governments and industries in Asia to move up the manufacturing value chain into high value manufacturing sectors such as aerospace, biomedical science and healthcare, chemicals and transport. As a trade event dedicated to serving the region’s manufacturing industry and supporting its progression on the value chain, MTA2009 plays an important role as the premier sourcing platform for players in the region to access the latest precision engineering and machine tool technologies available in the global market. It is also a key business networking platform, congregating over 880 exhibiting companies over 20,000 square metres of exhibition space. These companies are international companies hailing from 33 countries/regions across the globe. Six group pavilions will also be featured. For the first time, a capabilities hub will be set up for exhibitors to showcase work pieces that demonstrate their competencies and strengths. This year, the focus will feature excellence in the aerospace and oil & gas/marine sectors. Visitors will get to witness work-pieces ranging from components and parts of an aeroplane to subsea components that can withstand deep-sea activities. The Precision Engineering Business Forum serves as an industry platform for the exchange of knowledge and sharing of collaboration strategies and partnership opportunities. It is the first conference in Asia to focus on the business aspects and potential of precision engineering. The programme is designed to gather senior executives from key industries to meet and discuss how precision engineering will drive manufacturing investments and technologies. Specialised tracks on aerospace manufacturing, automotive manufacturing, medical equipment manufacturing and sustainable energy will allow participants to examine industry trends and business opportunities for different-tiered players. “In this climate of uncertainty, it is imperative that the industry moves strategically forward into higher value manufacturing with long term growth potential. In order to rise above the downturn, it has become more crucial for many industry players during this critical period to step up their efforts to promote their manufacturing capabilities, and maximise opportunities that can generate greater brand awareness within the key markets,” said William Lim, Project Director from MTA2009 organiser, Singapore Exhibition Services. “MTA2009 is positioned to help companies take the next step not just by offering them the latest machines and technologies, but also the platform to network with buyers, sellers, partners and industry experts, thereby enhancing their capabilities and opening up new business opportunities.” MTA2009 will be held concurrently with Asia MEDTECH 2009, an exhibition on the manufacturing processes for the medical technology industry which aims to promote the growth of Singapore’s Medtech industry and the country’s role as a regional hub for medical technology procurement. Visitors will see a showcase of component manufacturing capabilities for a wide range of medical devices ranging from simple bandages and spectacles, through life maintaining implantable devices, equipment to screen and diagnose disease and health conditions, to the most sophisticated diagnostic imaging and minimal invasive surgery equipment. GATE09 Medical Technology, a global buyer-centric platform helping key procurement decision-makers from global OEMs from the fast-growing and cutting-edge medical technology sector connect with Asian suppliers in the industry will also be held at the event. MTA2009 will also incorporate MetalAsia2009, MetrologyAsia2009, OutSource&SubCon2009, Automation2009, WeldTech2009 and ToolTec2009, all specialised events that cater to the individual needs of Asia’s manufacturing industry. ***
